Become one of Iowa's best Nurses - join the Nursing team at Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical center, the University of Iowa Health Care. The Surgery Specialty Unit (2 Roy Carver) is a 34-bed surgical unit that provides post-operative care for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures such as solid organ transplant, digestive diseases, bariatrics, and trauma. Essential to the care of these multidimensional patients is an interdisciplinary team skilled in the areas of post-operative disease processes. Click here to find out more about the unit.


The University of Iowa Health Care offers competitive salaries based on education and experience. Staff Nurse positions vary between 50-100%, with varying shifts (salaries for 100% positions start at $51,662 to commensurate). We also offer an excellent benefits package including an annual vacation accrual at the rate of 15-24 days per year along with an annual sick leave benefit accrual at a rate of 144 hours or 18 days per year with an unlimited amount of sick leave credits that can be accumulated. REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:
An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions. General computer skills are required. Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.

Desired Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired. If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
